Guide to the Correct Application and Placement of Special Gas cylinders

Special gas cylinders, as important equipment in industrial production and scientific research experiments, their correct application and placement are directly related to personnel safety and production stability. Due to the fact that special gases often possess characteristics such as flammability, explosiveness, toxicity, harmfulness or corrosiveness, improper operation can easily lead to safety accidents. Therefore, it is essential to strictly follow the standardized procedures.

Ⅰ. Before application

Before application, a thorough inspection of potential hazards must be carried out: Check that the bottle body has no cracks, deformations or corrosion, and that the gas name, purity, production date and inspection mark on the bottle body are clear and complete. Use is strictly prohibited if the marks are blurred or have expired. Check the valve's sealing performance. Slowly open the valve, apply soapy water to the interface to test for leakage. If there are bubbles, close the valve and replace the sealing parts. Only after the problem is solved can it be used.

Ⅱ. During use

When in use, matching equipment and protection are required: Select suitable pressure reducers and pipelines to avoid reactions caused by gas mixing. Overpressure is strictly prohibited. Keep a close eye on the pressure gauge in real time. Stop operation immediately if the pressure is abnormal. Wear protective equipment such as chemical gloves and gas masks according to the nature of the gas to prevent personnel from getting injured.

Ⅲ. When placing

The placement must meet three major requirements: It should be stored in a well-ventilated dedicated warehouse, away from fire sources, heat sources and flammable and explosive materials, and equipped with fire-fighting and emergency facilities. Fix the gas cylinder with a bracket or chain to prevent it from toppling over. Tighten the cylinder cap when standing upright and keep the head in the same direction when placed horizontally. Store gases classified by their properties. The distance between oxidizing and reducing gases, as well as toxic and inert gases, should be no less than 5 meters. Clearly label them. No open flames are allowed in the warehouse. Conduct safety inspections every week.

The correct application and standardized placement of special gas cylinders is an important link to ensure the safety of production and scientific research. Relevant operators must strictly follow the procedures, enhance safety awareness, and eliminate potential safety hazards.
